Young Maine Volunteer Roll of Honor

Did you know ..

Mainers 18 years old and younger volunteer at a higher rate than any other age group? 

You can say "Thanks for all you do" by nominating them for the Young Maine Volunteer Roll of Honor. It is non-competitive - everyone who qualifies will be recognized!

Submission Deadline:  March 15, 2019  

Please read all directions. Submission form is below in the "Procedure to Submit Nominations" section.

The Young Maine Volunteer Roll of Honor will recognize EVERY qualifying nominee with

1. a certificate attesting to their service;
2. a Maine Volunteer Service medallion; 
3. guest of honor at a special celebration event on April 14, 2019 at the J Duke Albanese Performing Arts Center (Messalonskee High School), Oakland. Ceremony to include entertainment and presentation to each participant ; and
4. a complementary ticket to the April 9 Seadogs community volunteer celebration game.

QUALIFICATIONS

 Every nominator will be required to certify the following are true as part of the nomination:

  • each young person nominated was 18 years of age or younger on December 31, 2018;
  •  each youth nominated volunteered for at least 50 hours during the 12 month period (Jan 1 - Dec 31, 2018); 
  •  members of a youth group nominated averaged 50 volunteer hours each person during the 12 month period;
  • the volunteer service was not court-ordered community service; 
  • none of the volunteer service was part of a charitable fundraising project; and
  • the nominator has written parental consent to submit the nomination. 

NOTE: 50 hours is 10% of the Maine Roll of Honor requirement for nominees 19 years of age and older.

PROCEDURE TO SUBMIT NOMINATIONS

  • All nominations be submitted by 5pm on March 15, 2019. 
  • Complete the nomination form and submit as an email attachment to GovServiceAwards@VolunteerMaine.org. Nominations will only be accepted in electronic form.
  • Be sure to read the insturctions, which are included on the form. Nominators must provide a brief description of the young person(s) service.
  • To submit a nomination, DOWNLOAD THE FORM HERE.  It is an Excel spreadsheet. Save the completed excel file with your organization's name in the title+YMRH. Example: Loomishighschool.YMRH.xls
  • Attach the file to an email and send to GovServiceAwards@VolunteerMaine.org .

 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • All information requested must be provided in order for the nomination form to be considered complete. Incomplete forms cannot be considered.
  • Nominations will only be accepted electronically and no other supporting documentation will be considered. 
  • Each youth or group attending the recognition event must be accompanied by at least one adult
